Voda je považována za nejrozšířenější látku na zeměkouli ?
Všechnu vodu nemůžeme využívat podle našich potřeb. Více než 97% představuje voda slaná, zbytek je voda sladká, která je vázaná v ledovcích, polárním ledu, atmosféře, rostlinstvu, živých organizmech, půdě.
Jen zhruba 0,3% ze sladké vody je voda povrchová, která je vhodná pro úpravu, což je méně než 0,01% množství vody na Zemi.
Voda jako přírodní zdroj je nositelem energie mechanické, chemické, tepelné, hlavním médiem pro transport látek, surovinou pro řadu průmyslových odvětví.
Voda má nezaměnitelnou funkci zdravotní. Ta se netýká jen toho nejdůležitějšího, čímž je přímá konzumace vody, ale také její nezbytnosti pro zajištění osobní hygieny člověka, pro jeho rekreaci.
Voda má i funkci estetickou a kulturní, protože právě ta „obyčejná voda“ přispívá ke zkrášlení krajiny, ale i lidských sídlišť a obydlí.
Jako zdroj pitné vody v námi zásobovaném regionu slouží podzemní vody těžené v oblastech Bzence a Moravské Nové Vsi. Menší množství tvoří povrchová voda z přehradní nádrže Koryčany.
Všechna voda z uvedených zdrojů prochází úpravou v úpravnách vody Bzenec, Koryčany a Moravská Nová Ves .
Vyrobená pitná voda je přiváděná pomocí rozsáhlého distribučního systému, zahrnujícího vodovodní řady, vodojemy a čerpací stanice, do místa spotřeby. V rámci tohoto systému naše společnost provozuje 1000 km vodovodních sítí, 33 000 vodovodních přípojek o celkové délce 266 km, 43 vodojemů, 30 čerpacích stanic a 11 ATS (zabezpečují čerpání výtlačním řadem do bytových jednotek ve Veselí, Hodoníně a Kyjově).
Na kvalitu pitné vody vyráběné a dodávané naší společností trvale dohlíží chemická služba.
V současné době naše společnost používá k zabezpečení hygienicky nezávadné dodávané pitné vody modernější dezinfekční činidlo tzv. “ chlordioxid “ s příznivějšími účinky.
Mimo podzemních vodovodních sítí obhospodařuje společnost také pásma hygienické ochrany vodních zdrojů. To jsou přesně vymezená území v terénu, kde platí zvláštní režim z důvodu zabezpečení ochrany kvality těžené podzemní nebo povrchové vody, využívané pro veřejné zásobování vodou.
